Assumption: Following The Same Path As Mary

Must Read

This Sunday, August 15, Catholics celebrate the assumption into heaven of the Virgin Mary, mother of Christ. According to Orthodox and Catholic religious belief, the Virgin Mary did not die like an ordinary mortal, but entered directly into the glory of God.

Father Jean-Claude Veder wanted to clarify the meaning of the feast of the Assumption. “This feast reminds us that Mary, the mother of Jesus, had a special privilege because she adhered to God’s plan without any apprehension.  She accepted to be the mother of our saviour because she always believed in God’s plan. And it is because of this that she has a special rank, a special place with God. She always shares in the glory of God. This is what we, as Christian Catholics, celebrate on August 15.

Father Jean-Claude Veder, who is also a theology specialist, was also keen to point out that “it is said that she ascended body and soul to God. This does not mean that Mary did not die, but that she was resurrected to God immediately. It is a feast of hope, a promise of life that we celebrated on the feast of the Assumption. We believe in Jesus and we also believe that when we die we will follow the same path as Mary and have the same place with God.  In other words, the Blessed Virgin Mary passed through death to be with Jesus, and this is what we celebrate on 15 August.

To this end, several Masses are celebrated on Sunday. However, as Covid 19 requires, strict sanitary measures will be observed to avoid any spread of the virus.
