Assistant Manager Defrauded Of Rs 1.2 Million

A 51-year-old woman, assistant manager at a cell phone operator was swindled of Rs 1,292,750 by a woman travel agent based in the village of Quartier-Militaire. This money was the amount she needed to immigrate to Canada. The 50-year-old woman who lives in Circonstance, Saint Pierre realized far too late that she had been swindled.

This assistant manager went to the Quartier-Militaire police station in the afternoon of Wednesday, December 7 to report a case of fraud. The fifty-year-old woman first of all made the history of her meeting with this woman travel agent. She said she met her in February of this year. She had spoken to her about her desire to settle in Canada. It is thus at the request of this woman; she began to make several payments totaling the sum of Rs 1 292 750 for all the expenses and the other formalities.

Faced with the slowness of the outcome of her request, she asked to be reimbursed. However, the checks she had received were all bad. The resident of Circonstance, Saint-Pierre was supposed to leave for Canada since last August.

On several occasions she contacted this travel agent to get her money back. She always found excuses to justify the delay, but to no avail. She is convinced that she has been defrauded. The Criminal Investigation Division of the Eastern Division has been seized of this case.
