Assaulted Bangladeshi Man In An Irregular Situation Arrested

A 27-year-old Bangladeshi national found himself behind bars after filing a complaint for robbery with violence. This is because he is in Mauritius illegally. The suspect was placed in a cell at the Alcatraz detention center at the Central Barracks since Friday, December 3. He was robbed a little earlier of a sum of Rs 12 000 by three women in the garden of the Company in Port-Louis.

It is in the presence of a translator that this farmer who currently resides at Camp de Masque gave his statement at the police station of Pope Hennessy, Port-Louis. He explained that on Friday, December 3, he had gone down to the capital to meet a friend. When the friend did not show up for his appointment, he chose to go for a walk in the garden of the Company in Port-Louis.  At a certain point he had an urge. He then went to the public toilets on La Poudrière Street.

He was accosted there by three women, who assaulted him before he was robbed of a sum of Rs 12,000 in different denominations that were in the left pocket of his jeans. The three women then fled. The Bangladeshi told the police that he can identify them.

During his interrogation in the presence of a translator, the investigators of the Pope Hennessy police station were to discover that this victim is in Mauritius illegally. The after checks were made with the Passport & Immigration Office.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police of the Southern Division was seized with this case to find these three women.
