Today’s PNQ will be addressed to the Minister of Finance and will concern the Mauritian Rupee.

The Parliamentary Questions session will target the PM, Pravind Jugnauth. No less than fifteen questions will be asked on various topics and general public interest. The launch will be by Reza Uteem who will ask the Prime Minister if the necessary arrangements are being made to allow the assembly to debate the Report of the Public Accounts Committee. Stings in Health

Health Minister Dr. Kailesh Jagutpal will also be in the spotlight with pointed questions. Osman Mohamed will ask him details about the allegations of dumping of expired drugs and medical supplies in the waste dump at Mahmoodkhan Hyderkhan Mediclinic, Dr. Aumeer will ask him about the Delta and Omicron variant positive cases in public and private sector, details about the deaths and whether extensive testing is being done on all the positive cases admitted to identify the sub-variants and new variants. He will also be asked by Dr. Nagalingum about the number of patients who have received treatment with Molnupiravir and the stock available and also about the number of positive cases recorded among tourists and how many required admission to the New ENT Hospital. A question on vaccination will also be on Ms. Ramyad’s agenda asking her to disclose the names and number of vaccines purchased but which have already reached their expiration date. Opposition Whip Patrice Armance will ask her about the number of cases registered at the Medical Negligence Sytanding Committee.

Other questions to other ministers and ministries of interest, such as agribusiness, will not be less hot than fire. The public expects the ministers to answer each question properly since the questions are drawn and distributed to the ministers and ministries concerned in advance and given the time they have to prepare them. Le Matinal will give you more details in the next article on the April 12 session.
