A 22-Year-Old Woman Dies, Boyfriend Arrested For Murder

Alvinew Kensor Alfred, a 26-year-old bricklayer was arrested early Sunday evening, February 19, on a charge of murder. This after his concubine, Coralie Marie Elvina Mathurin, 22 years old was declared dead after she was taken to the Dr. Bruno Cheong Hospital in Flacq. The bricklayer was subjected to a close interrogation by investigators of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Bel Air Rivière Sèche (BARS) and ended up confessing to having injected the young woman with brown sugar. The couple lives in the village of Pointe aux Feuilles in Quatre Sœurs.

Alvinew Alfred, who will celebrate his 27th birthday this Wednesday, February 22, was placed in a cell at the detention center of Moka. He will be brought before the court of Flacq on a provisional charge of murder after the hurricane alert is lifted.

Around 3:30 pm on Sunday, February 19, he took his concubine to the hospital in Flacq. He told the doctor in the emergency room that Elvina Mathurin had become ill after drinking an energy drink. The doctor unfortunately had to declare the death of the young woman and referred the case to the police.

Alvinew Alfred was taken to the CID office of BARS where he was interrogated. And, this bricklayer was quick to explain that he had injected his concubine with “brown”. Shortly afterwards, she started to have a reaction. The investigators do not rule out that his concubine succumbed to an overdose.

The suspect led the investigators to a dump near the sea where he had discarded the syringe. This one that was recovered as evidence.
