73-Year-Old Drunk Man Involved In Accident

A 73-year-old Beaubassin man was involved in a traffic accident this Friday, January 21. The orange Nissan Micra he was driving was involved in a collision with a grey grocery van and a brown Mitsubishi car. It was at the corner of Royale and Lady Twinning Road in Beau-Bassin. All three vehicles were damaged. All three drivers were given a breathalyzer test. The 73-year-old driver tested positive and had 120 micrograms of alcohol in his breath.

This collision involving two cars and a van occurred near the Tangs Way supermarket at approximately 12:12 p.m. on Friday, January 21. After a police officer made a marking on the scene of the accident, the three drivers were taken to the police station of Beau-Bassin to give their statements. They were first given a breathalyzer test by an Emergency Response Service officer.

The 73-year-old was not placed in a drunk tank. He was allowed to go home on the orders of an assistant police superintendent.
