Rs 1943. This is the amount of four items that a 71 year old woman from Coromandel stole from the Winners supermarket in Victoria Urban, Port Louis on the morning of Thursday, July 21. She was stopped by a security guard after going through the checkout without paying for two cosmetic products, a pot of coffee and a pair of scissors. She was taken to the police station of Casernes Centrales by police officers who were requested.
It was shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, that a security guard stationed at this supermarket said he noticed this suspicious-looking septuagenarian taking articles from the shelves to put them in her basket. After paying for some items at the cash register, the security guard asked her to accompany him. She then took out two jars of creams, a nail polish, a jar of coffee and a pair of scissors.
After her interrogation she was allowed to return home. However, she had to go to the police station this Friday morning, July 22, for the formality of her appearance at the court of Port-Louis and her release on parole.
