35 Years In Prison For Tavish Who Killed 2 People For Sentimental Reasons

Must Read

The young Tavish Ausmann, prosecuted before the Assizes since 2016 for double murder and assault, knew his sentence this Friday, January 14, 2022. The young man, aged 22 years, will have to spend 35 years in prison. He is accused of killing his alleged girlfriend, Anshika Rughoobin (Yeshna), a 13-year-old schoolgirl and Fatima Bibi Rughoobin, (Reshma), 54 years. Yovi Rughoobin (Tushar), 10 years old had also been assaulted, but fortunately, he was able to escape on the day of the tragedy, February 26, 2016, by playing dead. At the time of the facts, the young resident of Camp-de-Masque-Pavé was 17 years old and had not accepted that his marriage proposal was not accepted.

His sentence was handed down by Judge Benjamin Marie Joseph. In his verdict, he said he took into consideration the fact that Tavish Ausmann pleaded guilty to all three charges, cooperated with the police during the police investigation and his good behavior in prison. The judge sentenced him to 35 years in prison for each murder and 15 years in prison for aggravated assault. However, in view of the young age of the convict, the judge ordered that the three sentences be served concurrently.

It was on February 26, 2016 that this drama occurred in Camp-de-Masque-Pavé. Tavish Ausmann had confessed to going to the Rughoobin’s house with a ‘cutter’ and tape, adding that his original plan was not to kill his victims, but to threaten them if his proposal to marry the teen failed. He was to indicate that he had come to propose marriage, but that it had not gone as planned. According to the details of the police investigation, the young man, not having obtained what he had come for, would have then started to threaten the grandmother before assaulting her with his weapon. He then decided to attack Yeshma with a knife. As for the latter’s little brother, Yovi, 11 years old, who had come home after school, he was stabbed by the accused. Volunteers took him to the hospital and his life was saved.

Five years later, the trial started in the court of law.  Initially, Tavish Ausmann was prosecuted on two charges of premeditated murder and aggravating circumstances, and pleaded not guilty. However, these charges were reduced to manslaughter in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, May 11, to which Tavish Ausman pleaded guilty. The young man was represented by Rama Valayden and Haafizah Bibi Goolamy. The young man expressed his regrets and cooperated fully with the police. It was mentioned that he had also tried to commit suicide after his crime.
