A raid by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of Trou aux Biches on Monday morning, April 17, led to the arrest of Marie Celina Alexia Christophe, née Juliette, at her home in Cité Sainte Claire, Goodlands. This 34 year old woman was found in possession of heroin and synthetic drugs, whose market value is estimated at Rs 547,500. The sum of Rs 875 suspected to be from the sale of this drug was also seized.
It is on the basis of certain information and after hours of surveillance that the men of the sergeant Ramtohul under the supervision of the assistant superintendent of police, Rajendranath Jhurry landed at the residence of Celina Christophe in cité Sainte Claire, Goodlands at 9:45 am of Monday April 17.
A plastic parcel sealed with adhesive tape containing 48.0 grams of the synthetic drug, a plastic vial in which there were fifty doses of synthetic drug, that is to say 4.8 grams, a transparent plastic containing 14.7 grams of heroin, a white plastic vial containing thirty-eight doses of heroin, that is to say 4.2 grams, an electronic scale, a razor blade and the sum of Rs 875. This money is suspected to come from the sale of the drug.
These Adsu police officers also found thirteen pieces of aluminum foil in rectangular shape, a roll of partially used bacofoil and two banana bags. The suspect was taken to the Adsu office in Trou aux Biches for questioning.
Célina Christophe was presented before the court of Pamplemousses during the day on Monday, April 17. Since the police objected to her release on parole, she was placed in a cell at the central prison of Beau Bassin.
