A 3-year-old boy, who attends a preschool in Saint Julien d’Hotman, suffered head injuries on Wednesday morning, May 25. He was thrown to the ground after being hit by a school van. The vehicle was leaving the school grounds when the accident occurred. The child, who lives in Mont Ida, was admitted to the Fortis Darné clinic in Floréal.
It was around 8:05 am this Wednesday morning, May 25, that this accident occurred. A 43 year old driver of a school van had just dropped off children at this kindergarten. As he was leaving the school compound, he heard a noise in front of his vehicle. He then got out of his van to make a report. There he saw a little boy lying on the ground with a head injury.
With the help of the staff of this school and his assistant-driver, he drove the little boy to the health center of Quartier-Militaire to receive treatment. The child was then taken in charge by his mother and taken to the Darné clinic. He was admitted after receiving treatment.
The driver, who lives in Providence, Quartier-Militaire, went to the police station in Camp de Masque to report the accident. An investigation has been initiated to shed light on the exact circumstances of this accident.
