American actor Kevin Spacey has been charged with four sexual assaults against three men, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced Thursday.
The 62-year-old has been charged with five counts after a review of evidence by the Metropolitan Police following complaints dating from 2005 to 2013.
Three complaints relate to sexual abuse allegedly taking place in London, and one in Gloucestershire. He also faces another charge of serious sexual offenses in London. In 2017, the actor found himself in turmoil after accusations of sexual assault. In particular, he had been accused of inappropriate behavior towards actor Anthony Rapp, who was 14 years old at the time of the incident. Anthony Rapp was the first to accuse the 61-year-old actor of sexual misconduct. And those accusations were followed by numerous other stories about Kevin Spacey’s transgressive behavior. Following these revelations, the actor had been removed from several productions but also from the series “House of Cards”.
In 2019, the state of Massachusetts had closed the cases without civil and criminal proceedings. The investigations in Britain were still ongoing until this indictment.
