21 persons have been arrested for the plot to murder 47 year old Madagascar’s President, Andry Rajoelina in July.
Malagasy authorities are undergoing one of its most toughest enquiries to know the people behind the plan, that was detected recently and aimed to murder Rajoelina and some of his key ministers. Two military men were arrested, one a foreigner who played an active part in a Coup in Ivory Coast some years back. There was also an email where funds were being asked from a rich society to finance the overthrowing of Andry Rajoelina as President. Authorities have now arrested 21 persons, most of them police officers and military high officers.
The President has, up until now, not expressed any comments on the plot towards his murder.
Madagascar is facing tough battles in many spheres, namely the covid pandemic, a severe drought and famine in the south and political tensions between opposition parties and former allies of Rajoelina, now in the Opposition.
