2022/2023 Budget To Be Presented On June 07

Must Read

The suspense about the date of the next budget is over, it will be on Tuesday June 7. Finance Minister Renganaden Padayachy will present his budget in a difficult context.

There will be no parliamentary session on Tuesday, June 07. Finance Minister Renganaden Padayachy will present the budget for the fiscal year 2022 to 2023 at 4 pm. Pre-budget consultations with the public online and face-to-face with the private sector, ministries and associations ended last week. The upcoming budget marks the third of the Great Argentier.

Indeed, an unprecedented price hike is currently raging in Mauritius of several foodstuffs and petroleum products. The price of fuel has increased on four occasions this year. And nothing says that there will not be others.

Because, the government blames this increase to the pandemic of the covid 19 and especially to the invasion of Russia in Ukraine. And since these two factors are still relevant, this will have a certain impact on the next budget speech.

Especially since, according to specialists, the depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar has resulted in the reduction of the purchasing power of Mauritians.

It is therefore not impossible that the budget will give pride of place to various subsidies or social assistance to try to relieve the so-called lower classes.

Or even actions to create jobs and develop new sectors of the economy.
