The brigade of the protection of the family of the division of east is actively in search of a young woman of 20 years since Monday, December 12, that for having abandoned her daughter seven months on the terrace of an inhabitant of Royal road, Post of Flacq. This offence, she committed it in the evening of Sunday December 11.
This affair burst in the morning of Monday December 12, that is to say around 2 hours 40. It is a 23-year-old man living in the village of Nouvelle Découverte who was at his uncle’s house in Poste de Flacq, not far from the Lepep snack bar on Route Royale, who alerted the local police station.
In his statement, he explained that he found a female baby aged about six months on the terrace of his uncle at about 10:30 pm on Sunday, December 11. He said he heard until 2 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, but no one came to retrieve the child. A team of police officers were scheduled to go to his uncle’s house at about 2:40 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12. He handed the child over to the police and went to the police station to give his statement.
He explained that neither he nor his relatives knew the baby. The baby was taken to the Dr. Bruno Cheong Hospital in Flacq where he was placed for observation in the ward. The Child Development Unit (CDU) of the Ministry of Gender Equality was informed of this case.
During the day on Monday, December 12, a 20-year-old woman from Poste de Flacq came to the ward where the child was admitted as the baby’s mother. She confided in the nurses stationed in this room of her intention to take back her daughter. She was informed that the police should be alerted to her arrival. Immediately, she had to leave.
As for the little girl, she had her discharge this Monday, December 12th and she will be entrusted under the custody of her maternal grandmother by the CDU who lives in Bel Air Rivière Sèche this Tuesday, December 13th.
