11 Cases Of Alleged Sexual Abuse : Speech And Language Therapist, Ibrahim Soreefan Returns To Cell

Must Read

7 new provisional charges of ‘causing child to be sexually abused’ have been lodged against the Speech and Language Therapist, who is suspected of having sexually abused pupils at the Beau Bassin School for the Deaf. The provisional charges now stand at 11, counting the 4 charges from last week. Ibrahim Soreefan appeared at the Rose Hill Court on Wednesday 29 June and has returned to cell.

The 24-year-old special school teacher continues to deny the charges against him and alleges that this is a plot against him. However, after some 15 complaints from pupils at the school that the teacher had made them watch pornographic clips before touching them, and after the seizure of his computer equipment, including a laptop, two phones and two tablets, and especially after the 7 new accusations made today, the Court decided to continue the investigation on the Highlands resident. He was last questioned on Saturday 25 June.

Other students’ tablets have been seized for analysis as part of the investigation. The Special Education Needs Authority (SENA) has completed its investigation and submitted its report to the Ministry of Education. SENA also plans to strengthen its team of 6 inspectors by bringing in Quality Assurance Officers to ensure that all schools under its authority comply with its rules.
