A serious traffic accident occurred on Sunday, October 23, at Lady Barkly Street in Souillac. A 10 year old boy was hit by a 4 x 4 when he crossed this road behind a truck. He was admitted to the Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle with serious injuries and was placed on life support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The driver of the vehicle, a 38-year-old Field Irrigation Officer from the village, was given a breath test. The test was negative.
It was around 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 23 that this accident occurred. The 4 x 4 of the Toyota brand that came from Saint Aubin was driving in the direction of Surinam. At some point, the little boy emerged on the road behind a truck. The driver could not do anything to avoid him. Injured, an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service was called to transport him to the hospital in Rose-Belle. The condition of this small pedestrian living in VRS, Souillac is considered serious.
