Must Read

For no apparent reason, a young couple from Triolet was attacked on Monday afternoon by two individuals from the locality before being robbed of a sum of Rs 10,000 that they were going to deposit in a bank. The husband, aged 25, was injured on his forehead, nose, upper lip, right cheek, right hand and left shin. He was taken to the northern hospital for treatment.

This Monday, December 20, this young man, accompanied by his wife, was walking along Bon Air Street in Triolet to go to the branch of the State Bank of Mauritius located on the Royal Road at 8th Mile, Triolet. For no apparent reason, a man, aged 42 years and living on the same street as them, started to bother them. The young man then challenged the individual to find out the reasons for his behavior. This man then had to leave without answering.

A few minutes later, this individual, accompanied by his nephew, came again towards him. Following an argument with the forty-year-old, the nephew began to address him in an arrogant and provocative manner. The young man ignored him and continued on his way. Vexed, the man, who was holding a crowbar in his right hand, had to inflict a blow to his left hand. He had to put his left hand in the right pocket of his shorts to take his Rs 10 000 in Rs 1000 denominations.

Thereafter, the individual had to continue to hit him with this crowbar in the face and head. Under these blows, the young man collapsed on the ground. He was to receive another blow to the left shin. As a crowd began to gather, the nephew and uncle had to leave.

The man was injured and later returned home where he was taken to the North Hospital in a police vehicle. Both suspects are wanted.
