The hearing of former Minister of Commerce Yogida Sawmynaden will continue this Friday, June 11 in Moka court. He will be cross examined by Me Roshi Bhadain, representative of Koomadha Sawmynaden, brother of Yogida Sawmynaden and Me Rama Valayden, who represents Simla Kistnen, widow of Soopramanien Kistnen. The body of the latter, an agent of the Militant Socialist Movement (MSM) was found on October 18, 2020 in a cane field in Telfair, Moka, partially charred.
During the hearing of the former Minister of Commerce, Yogida Sawmynaden on Wednesday, June 9 in Moka court, the representative of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Me Azam Neerooa, showed him an exchange of messages between his agent , Koomadha Sawmynaden, and his brother on October 16.
In one of the messages, Koomadha Sawmynaden asks Soopramanien Kistnen to report his brother to the ICAC.
Yogida Sawmynaden also revealed that he was renting a space on the ground floor of his building in Port Louis from Simla Kistnen, the wife of the deceased. She operated a snack bar there in 2013. The annual rent, which totaled Rs 180,000, has never been paid.
The former minister also pointed out that he was not aware that the official address of Rainbow Construction, a company of Soopramanien Kistnen, was that of its building at rue Mère Barthélémy, Port Louis.
Yogida Sawmynaden was also questioned about the contracts awarded to Bo Digital and AV Technoworld during confinement in 2020. He specified that he was not aware that these two companies have won contracts exceeding Rs 300 million for the supply of ‘medical equipment.
