Twenty-Six Hotel Employees Suffer From Food Poisoning

Must Read

After having consumed kebab bread, twenty-six members of the staff of a hotel on the eastern seaboard were taken to the Dr Bruno Cheong hospital in Flacq on the evening of Thursday 23 September following food poisoning. These employees aged between 21 and 47 years had taken their dinner at the canteen of the hotel. Twenty-one of them were able to return to their homes, but five were admitted to the ward after testing positive for Covid-19.

A team from the Rivière-Sèche police station went to the hospital shortly before 9pm on Thursday 23 September after being alerted to a possible case of food poisoning. Twenty-six hotel employees were receiving treatment. They said they began to feel nauseous after eating their dinner, which was a kebab roll.

Five of these employees were admitted to the ward after testing positive for Covid-19. The others were able to return to their respective homes after receiving treatment. This team of police officers visited the hotel shortly afterwards. The duty manager told them that he kept a sample of the food consumed by these twenty-six employees for the purpose of the investigation.

This sample will be sent to the health department of the Flacq division for analysis.
