Manchester City’s defending champions lost to Tottenham on Sunday in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first game in charge of Spurs. Heung-Min Son was the only scorer of the game, and he delivered a magnificent left-footed strike to earn all three points against Pep Guardiola’s men.

It was a counter-attack that caught the City defence off guard, and Son curled his shot around Dias and into the bottom corner. Bergwijn had a chance to wrap up the game, but his close-range shot flew into the side netting, while Lloris made saves from Grealish and De Bruyne at the other end.
City’s title defence starts with a defeat, and Guardiola will be hoping they can put those last two defeats behind them when they travel to newly promoted Norwich City next week. Nuno’s season in charge of Spurs starts with a win, and his next appointment is a trip to his former team Wolves.
