The case dates to 11 September last year. Hussein Abdul Raheem had charged three people, including two sisters, Adilla Oozerally Salaroo and Shazia Oozeerally, with alleged drug trafficking.
However, a report from the Forensic Science Laboratory ruled out the presence of cocaine in the substance seized. The 8.2 kilos of white powder seized are not listed as an illegal substance under the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The two sisters have been released on parole, while Hussein Abdul Raheem and Haider Rattan remain in custody to give their versions of this turn of events.
Hussein Abdul Raheem had denounced the Oozeerally sisters as the masterminds behind a major cocaine import. This led to their eventual arrest after the discovery of 8.2 kilos of a white powder, hidden in various locations.
