A new case of sexual abuse of a minor has been reported in Rodrigues, this time it concerns a 5-year-old girl.
In her statement to the police, the girl claims that she was raped earlier this year by a neighbor.
According to her version, she was standing in the backyard of her grandmother’s house when a man, whose first name she knows, approached her, took off her clothes and sexually abused her.
It was only when she screamed that the man took off. The police are looking for the man.
A new case of sexual abuse. A number which does not cease increasing since these last weeks in Rodrigues.
Between cases of child pornography and sexual abuse of minors, the island is seriously shaken.
It is important to note that the committee of the Assembly of God of Rodrigues has recently dismissed one of its pastors. The latter is accused by a 17-year-old girl of having sexually abused her. According to the teenager, when she was 14 years old, she told the pastor, who was in his fifties and lived in the northern region, about her family problems. The pastor, who was married, offered to help her. He took advantage of this to sexually abuse her on several occasions. The teenager claims that she did not say anything because she had been threatened and intimidated by her alleged aggressor.
The police investigation is ongoing.
