Must Read

A four-wheel drive vehicle failed to stop on Monday morning, June 13, after hitting a pedestrian on Royal St. Martin Road in Mount Roches. The victim did not survive his injuries. An ambulance from the Service d’Aide Médicale d’Urgence (SAMU) was dispatched to the scene of the accident. The doctor on board could only note the death of this man. He was later identified as Laval Tony Chavrimootoo, 51 years old, resident of Plaisance, Rose-Hill. This fifty-year-old is the 41st victim of a road accident since the beginning of this year.

It was around 6:30 a.m. this Monday morning of June 13 when this accident occurred. A blue 4 x 4, which was driving on the road of Saint-Martin, Mont-Roches, hit a pedestrian and did not stop. The Barkly Police Station, Beau-Bassin, was alerted to the accident and dispatched a team of police officers to the scene. A doctor from an ambulance of the SAMU, who examined the injured, unfortunately found him dead. His body was subsequently transported to the morgue of the Victoria Hospital, Candos for an autopsy. The autopsy was performed by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the forensic department of the police, and attributed the death to multiple injuries.

Marcelin Humbert was killed on this same road when the motorcycle he was riding collided with the back of a pickup truck. It was on February 2, 2021.

The driver of this 4 x 4 is actively sought by the police. Investigators have reviewed the various surveillance cameras to trace the driver.
