Heman Jangi, the boss of the Central CID, said this morning that the police have opted, for now, not to bring Rama Valayden and Raouf Khodabaccus in court for provisional indictment. He added that the investigation was still going on. The investigators, he added, will decide what to do next. Heman Jangi said that all those involved in the rally, which he described as illegal, will be summoned. He laid emphasis on the fact that the protestation of Tuesday last was illegal and that about 20 persons will be summoned to Line Barrack.
“It’s time to end these provisional charges,” says Rajen Narsinghen
The Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Mauritius was summoned to the Line Barracks this morning. On his way out, he said the police informed him that they did not need him at this stage. Rajen Narsinghen made an argument against the practice of provisional indictment. He said that it was time to get rid of this practice.
