Linion Pep Morisien Expresses Their Worries Concerning Horse Racing In Mauritius

On Saturday 7th May 2022, the Political Party, Linion Pep Morisien held a Peaceful March on the streets of the Capital to express their worries concerning horse racing in Mauritius. The party is demanding the intervention of Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth for the immediate resumption of horse racing.

They expressed their fear following the recent actions of the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA), the Horse Racing Division and the Port Louis City Hall against the Mauritius Turf Club (MTC).

With the permission of the Commissioner of Police and all sanitary precaution observed, the March started at the Champ-de-Mars and ended at the Jardin de la Compagnie, where the members of Linion Pep Morisien, including Rama Valayden, raised their voices and appealed to the Prime Minister to take adequate actions. One of the members of the Party also filed a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the City Hall of Port Louis.

The demonstrators are also demanding that the turfists are allowed to go to the Champ-de-Mars while respecting the sanitary measures in place due to the Covid-19. For more than 100 years of existence, we should not forget that horse racing has always been part of our patrimony.
