Must Read

On 31 July, Mauritian artist Kavinash Thomoo won the National Arts & Crafts Council of Seychelles (NACCS) at the Seychelles Biennials. This recognition once again confirms the talent of the young artist.

Kavisnash Thomoo did not return home empty-handed. Indeed, the artist who has been practising for 20 years has won the NACCS during the Seychelles Biennials which ends on 28 August: “My second participation in this biennial has brought me luck. And for good reason, I won the NACCS, one of the four prizes that are awarded at this event. It was a pleasant surprise and I am very proud of my performance,” explains Kavinash.

The artist will participate in two international exhibitions.

For the occasion the artist presented an installation: “The theme of the biennials was Lost and found. I presented an installation entitled Can you hear me? I set up the piece with small bottles, each containing an element of our environment. Installation is a cry of alarm against the overexploitation of our planet’s resources.

The artist is also planning two more international exhibitions this year: “I have also qualified for the next Bangladesh Biennale. Then one of my works has also been selected for an exhibition in the US,” Kavinash points out.
