Interrogation Of Yogida Sawmynaden Continues On 18 June In Moka

Must Read

The judicial enquiry into the death of former MSM agent, Soopramanien Kistnen will continue this Friday 18 June in the Moka court. On Tuesday 15 June, Yogida Sawmynaden, the former Minister of Commerce, said he was not aware of the contracts awarded during the 2020 lockdown to AV Techno World Ltd owned by Vijay Appanna and Bo-Digital Ltd owned by Deepak Bonomally. He did, however, attend the High-Level Committee (HLC) meetings on Covid-19. “There have been several contracts awarded to different companies. I am not aware of any specific contracts.” He added that the HLC had received « several proposals for consideration » and that he participated in the HLC not as the Minister of Commerce, but as a member of the government to find a « tailor made » solution to the pandemic.

Roshi Bhadain wanted to know whether the expenditure of Rs100,000 by Soopramanien Kistnen for the purchase of containers for the 2019 elections was indeed paid by Yogida Sawmynaden. The former Commerce Minister explained that he was not aware of the contents of the notebook although he acknowledged that Kistnen’s papers editor, Hansley Jules, was his advisor.

It should be noted that Ravi, known as Soubash, a religious man, testified the day before that he was not aware of the whole affair.

The proceedings have been adjourned to Friday 18 June 2021.
