Winner of The Lightning Cup, Rob Roy will try to confirm this Saturday in the Rajcoomar Gujadhur Cup over 990m at the Champ-de-mars racecourse. He will face strong challenges from Marauding and Huyssteen.
Rob Roy is a very good sprinter. He showed his quality over the 990m on his last outing when he won The Lightning Cup easily in front of Kamadeva. The gelding made it from pillar to post after breaking from gate number 8 out of 8 runners. That proves that he is very quick at the start. He might try the same tactics on Saturday, and he will kept going if nobody challenges him in front.
Marauding finished third behind Rob Roy last time. It was a very good performance for him over this short trip as he is the record holder of the 1450m in Mauritius. He raced from too far back and finished strongly. He will have his chances if Irish jockey Stephen Donohoe races him closer to the pace. Winning The Rajcoomar Gujadhur Cup will be a great achievement again for trainer Ramapatee Gujadhur as Rajcoomar Gujadhur was his grandfather and the founder of the Gujadhur Stables.
Huyssteen will be a good challenger to the favourites. He won over the 990m on his first outing this season. He then had two trials over 1365m without being able to win again. He is in a great form and he will be a danger with his lightweight.
The newcomer Winter Chill is a five time winner over 1000m and 1200m (5) in South Africa. He showed up with some good gallops and he might finish close to the winner.
