First-Born: Yuri Baptizes The Birth Book Of Artemis Curepipe Hospital

Must Read

On Sunday June 11, 2023, at 3:18 pm, the first cry of a 2.6 kg baby boy was heard at Artemis Curepipe Hospital. The first-born at the private Curepipe hospital came into the world surrounded by pediatrician Dr Ramdhun, gynecologist Dr Jhagdambi, anesthesiologist Dr Kissoon, Sweety Pillai – Chief of Nursing at Artemis Curepipe Hospital, and his medical team.

The healthy little bundle of joy is named Yuri. His birth is not only a milestone in the history of Artemis Curepipe Hospital, but also in that of Marie Alix Savrimootoo. “Yuri was so long awaited. I can finally hold my firstborn in my arms,” she confides, her heart full of emotion. For Alix Savrimootoo, being a mother for the first time was synonymous with happiness, but also apprehension.

“Despite the surprise of the contractions and the stress of the moment, when I arrived in emergency at Artemis Curepipe Hospital, the nursing staff were very reassuring and proactive in their approach to care. I felt I was in good hands. The midwives and nurses showed great tenderness towards Yuri. This enabled me to recover quickly from the birth,” says the 30-year-old mother.

On the advice of Dr. Jhagdambi, Marie Alix Savrimootoo headed for Artemis Curepipe Hospital. Yuri wasn’t the only one to christen the private hospital’s maternity ward. The gynecologist, who provides consultations at Artemis Curepipe Hospital, successfully delivered the first baby.

“I’m very pleased to see that Artemis Curepipe Hospital was able to provide a quality service for Yuri’s delivery, and above all to meet the medical requirements in terms of both infrastructure and medical staff. It is essential to provide high-quality care and to act quickly during the crucial moment of childbirth. Both baby and mother are doing wonderfully. It’s a first success for this brand-new hospital,” explains Dr. Jhagdambi.
