Fawzee Barkhut lives several passions at the same time. Sometimes under the dome of the forest, sometimes on the mountain tops, when not under water, the man is an adventurer at heart.
At 46 years old, Fawzee is a real jack-of-all-trades when it comes to raising his adrenaline level: “My father was a coal miner. My father was a coal miner, so I used to go with him into the forest. That’s how I learned to love nature. Later, during my student years, I discovered hiking and it quickly became an all-consuming passion.”
And for good reason, with friends he started to go on more and more hikes in the forest and in the mountains: “Together with other enthusiasts we went on several hikes in the nature. With them, I have climbed almost every mountain in the country, including the Rampart Mountain, which is known as a difficult mountain to climb.”
A true amphibian, Fawzee is as comfortable on land as he is underwater: “I was a diving instructor for about 20 years. If I don’t train people anymore, I still do it as a hobby.”
A hobby that the forty-year-old shares with his whole family: “I am lucky to share my passions with my two sons and my wife. Together we climb mountains, we dive and we go hiking in the wilderness.”
However, our interlocutor sounds the alarm: “Termites are attacking hundred-year-old trees. If nothing is done, these trees will disappear. I ask the authorities to act as soon as possible.”
