A 42-year-old woman at the wheel of her Hyundai car collided head-on with an electricity pylon on the evening of Thursday June 22. The impact of the collision was so severe that the pylon shattered before falling onto the road. Electric wires were running at this point on the Route Royale de Grande Rivière Sud Est (GRSE). The woman, who was traveling with her 7-year-old son, was given a breathalyzer test. The result was positive. She had thirty micrograms of alcohol in her breath.

The accident occurred at around 11pm on Thursday evening, June 22, on Route Royale in GRSE. The blue Hyundai was driving along this road when the driver lost control of her vehicle. The car then collided head-on with an electric pylon, which broke off and fell onto the road, along with its electric wires. The car was seriously damaged. A team of technicians from the Central Electricity Board was called to the scene.

The driver suffered minor injuries. The road where the accident occurred is in good condition, but poorly lit. There are no surveillance cameras at this location. The driver was taken to the Rivière Sèche police station, where she was given a breathalyzer test by an Emergency Response Service officer. She was tested with thirty micrograms of alcohol in her sulphur.
