Dr Ramgoolam’s Treatment Started Almost The Moment He Stepped Out Of The SpiceJet Aircraft

Must Read

He is in the capable hands of the specialists at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Dr Navin Ramgoolam and the members of the PTR are of the opinion that he will receive this good treatment in which they believe in.

Protocols followed in a timely manner

His treatment started almost the moment he stepped out of the SpiceJet aircraft at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.  The transfer of Dr Navin Ramgoolam to AIIMS which is about 20 minutes away from the airport was done in no time, in a princely manner where all the roadblocks were opened for his ambulance and above all without exposing him to traffic jams and prying eyes. “From the moment he boarded the ambulance, all protocols were followed but more quickly for Dr Navin Ramgoolam,” revealed Maya Hanoomanjee, Mauritius’ High Commissioner to India.

Dr Aumeer: “…in very good conditions

On arrival at the hospital, he went through a series of tests and analyses but was promptly admitted.

I have been in contact with the concerned today,” said Dr Farhad Aumeer, the one appointed by the Red Leader to give details of his condition. “At AIIMS, he is kept in very good conditions and is recovering. So to speak, he is receiving continuity of treatment for Pneumonia and Covid 19 started at Wellkin Hospital. We can say that since he was admitted and reported to be in good condition, we are a little more relaxed and reassured, but we will remain in constant concern until his full recovery and return to the country,” said Dr Farhad Aumeer, who was at Dr Navin Ramgoolam’s bedside as his doctor, friend and saviour and who did not give up on him until the last minute before the SpiceJet took off.

Dr Farhad Aumeer, Dr Ramgoolam’s Saviour

Friday 03 was Dr Aumeer’s birthday. A date that has forever become more significant than its original meaning to him. No celebrations for him, to the detriment of his family and relatives who were already ready to celebrate, but no faults either towards his friend above all, Dr Navin Ramgoolam who was admitted to the Isolation Ward of the Wellkin Hospital. He acted as a trusted doctor in the company of the Wellkin doctors for the delicate treatment of a prominent doctor in pain. “The questions were coming from both sides; it was my role and duty to also act as a companion to my Leader. I had to make sure of every development and treatment on him and answer him on each one. He is a doctor, curious and conscientious,” he says. And in addition to his day-to-day role, he was the one designated to divulge any important information about the former Prime Minister’s state of health. “He wanted to be surrounded by those who could follow everything objectively. I was with two other doctors in the ambulance that transferred him to SSRIA airport and even boarded and prepared him for the plane. I waited until the last minute to reassure myself of the good management of our leader,” he said, adding that he prays hard for Dr Navin Ramgoolam and keeps himself regularly informed of the evolution of his health.

His presence unnecessary according to him

Despite this, he did not form part of Navin Ramgoolam’s entourage in India. He explains “it would have been useless for me to be there. There is already a good team at the service of the Doctor. Then the reality is that this section of the AIIMS is closed to the public. So I feel that I am just as useful from a distance, and as I promised my friend and boss, I will take the plane at any time if he asks me to,” he says. He does not boast of praise for all those who had a hand in the successful transfer of the Red Leader, just like Patrick Assirvaden, the PTR secretary in his official speech of thanks.

PTR moved by Mauritians – Thank you

The leadership, through Secretary Patrick Assirvaden, thanked all those who have helped them in their ordeal, supported, prayed and continue to pray.

“The Labour Party would also like to thank the Government of India, the High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, Mrs Nandini Singla, the Government of Mauritius, the medical staff of the Wellkin Hospital in particular Dr Farad Aumeer and all those who in one way or another helped Dr Ramgoolam in this ordeal,” he announced. The PTR is touched by the fact that Navin Ramgoolam is in the hearts and prayers of Mauritians in such moments.
