Dorethane Agathina is an accomplished athlete. Sprinter and bodybuilder, the young woman lives her passion for sport between Mauritius and Germany. Collecting medals and trophies, she feeds her dreams with sewing oil. Meeting with this resident of Rose-Belle.

It all began during her student years at the France Boyer de la Giroday college where she discovered athletics: “I am a specialist in the 100 and 200 meters. When I was younger, I represented Mauritius in several local and international competitions. In 2019, I was preselected for the Island Games. A bad injury unfortunately deprived me of this adventure. Today, I practice athletics only in Germany, where my family lives.
It is precisely athletics that will push her towards bodybuilding: “To gain muscle mass, I had to build up a little muscle and I didn’t like that at all. I had registered in a gym against my will until the day I was offered to participate in a bodybuilding contest. That was the trigger and I ended up loving the sport, winning several titles during my career.”
Requiring a very strict lifestyle, high level bodybuilding, as Dorethane practices it, is far from being a restful one: “It’s a sport that requires a lot of rigor both in terms of training and diet. But, it is a choice that I made and I will persevere to achieve my goals to participate in the Arnold Classic and Olympia competitions in order to get a pro card in the Figure category and be on stage with the best.”
For now, the bodybuilder is focusing on the Mr. Indian Ocean Championship organized by WABBA. The competition is scheduled for December 11, 2021 in Reunion.
