The first edition of the Dance Dil Se contest was held on April 23 in the Multipurpose Hall of the District Council of Flacq. It is Akash Kooyela who won the said competition.
It was a first try and a master stroke for Akash Kooyela. Still a student, this young dancer of 19 years is on a cloud: “I am very happy with my performance. I also take this victory as an encouragement for the rest of my career in dance,” explains this resident of Rivière-du-Rempart.
Gaurab Kumar Roy – initiator of the project, does not hide his satisfaction either: “As a professional dancer, I wanted to organize this competition to allow young people to express their talents. In total, we received about twenty applications and only seven were able to validate their ticket for the rest of the adventure.”
The success of this first edition is such that Gaurab is already planning to hold the 2nd in 2024: “Everything leads us to believe that Dance Dil Se will now be an annual competition. For the second edition, which will be held next year, we are planning a big show with the participation of Indian dancers,” says Gaurab.
Note that Jerome Mandarine and Vivek Kooyela took 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the competition.
