Must Read

The cité Hibiscus, Flacq was in turmoil late on Friday afternoon, September 15. One of its residents, Ramduth Seegoolam, also known as Dev, was stabbed to death while at a friend’s home. His alleged assailant is none other than his friend’s brother, Satianand Seewoogoolam, who was arrested by Flacq’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

In a statement made at Flacq police station, Vijay Seewoogoolam, 48, said that at around 4pm on Friday September 15, he was at home with his friend Ramduth Seegoolam, aged 58. His brother Satianand Seewoogoolam arrived later and got into a heated argument with his friend. He pulled out a knife and struck Ramduth Seegoolam in the left side of the stomach. The injured Ramduth Seegoolam was writhing in pain before collapsing to the ground on his back.

As soon as a team from Flacq police station arrived at the scene of the bloody attack, an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service was called. After first aid had been administered to the injured man, he was evacuated to the Dr Bruno Cheong Hospital in Flacq. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries en route.

Ramduth Seegoolam’s body was taken to the morgue of the Dr A.G.Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis, for an autopsy. The autopsy will be carried out this Saturday morning, September 16, by Dr Maxwell Monvoisin, Principal Police Medical Officer.

The suspect will be brought before the Bail and Remand Court (BRC) this Saturday morning on a provisional charge of murder.
