This is the Ministry of Health’s count from Friday 31 December to Friday 7 January. The death toll is 13 confirmed to be attributed to Covid 19. As for the positive cases identified by PCR tests, the Ministry announced 514 local cases and 105 imported cases.
Of the 13 deaths, 3 were under 60 years of age, 6 were unvaccinated and 12 had comorbidities. 12 patients were admitted to the New ENT Hospital, 1 of whom was unvaccinated and, on a ventilator, and the other 11 are on oxygen, 5 of whom were properly vaccinated. 73 patients were admitted to the 5 regional hospitals. In terms of quarantine, the Ministry has 15 cases of incoming passengers.
Since the resumption on 4 January, the rate of vaccination is reported to be on the rise. To date, 952,305 people or 77.6% have received the first dose, 914,546 or 74.5%, the second and for the booster dose, the Ministry records 193,583 people, including 149,924 at Johnson & Johnson, 8,722 at Sinopharm, 2,825 at AstraZeneca and 32,112 at Pfizer, representing over 15% of the population. 48,867 adolescents aged 12-17 years received the first dose and 34,915 or 35.1% received their two doses of Pfizer. In Rodrigues, 66.5% of the population received the first dose, 65% the second, and 2,279 people the third.
For this Friday 07 January, the positive rate is 76. The ENT hospital has 2 new admissions and 9 in the regional hospitals.
