As of Friday 27th August, there are 319 new cases, including two admissions to the ENT hospital. The same hospital made public the death of a non-vaccinated patient on Thursday evening. At the weekly press briefing of the National Communications Committee, Dr. Joomye attributed the increase in cases to the decrease in vigilance since the growth of vaccination. He also announced the digitisation of vaccine data, which will also be used to track down the vaccinated who lie on their forms to get a dose of Johnson & Johnson. The Health Minister revealed that 40 deaths were directly attributed but they had been tested positive upon their admissions.
Figures and details
We have 85 patients admitted for Covid at ENT Hospital and 5 are considered “critical but stable“, as announced by the Health Minister, Dr Kailesh Jagutpal. 72 individuals had mild symptoms of the virus and the rest are patients who suffered from obesity, diabetes, hypertension, heart problems and respiratory disorders. “With most of the cases asymptomatic or with very mild symptoms, we have several new cases being monitored by the Domiciliary Monitoring Unit and being advised on the 8924 hotline. There are 1,588 patients with mild symptoms who are in treatment centres, 3,664 direct contacts in self-isolation and quarantine, 974 passengers and 635 positive contact tracings on unvaccinated people,” the Minister announced. Congratulating the good evolution of vaccination, the minister announced that the government’s objective will soon be reached. 728,269 people have a complete vaccination scheme, representing 57.5% of the population, including 76.6% of adults. 802,980 people, or 63.4% of the population, including 84.5% of adults, have been primo-vaccinated.
Vaccination in Wards
We are currently receiving a new shipment of the Sputnik V vaccine and it is available at the five vaccination centres. However, the good news is that as from next week, patients admitted to hospitals will receive their doses of vaccine directly from their rooms. A team will be dedicated to this consent-based inoculation mission.
Data compilation – 40 positive deaths revealed
As for the exact and detailed figures, the Minister admits that he does not have them all because they are still being compiled. “We cannot therefore determine the rate of primo and fully vaccinated people who test positive on a daily basis, nor can we determine those who are asymptomatic.” But the Minister made an unprecedented announcement without further details, “the Ministry has recorded about 40 cases of Covid-positive deaths on admission that cannot be directly attributed to the virus,” he said.

“I appeal to the collective responsibility to resume our good habits as applied in 2020,” said Dr. Zouberr Joomye. It would be pointless to take the risk of lying on the vaccine registration forms, but especially since the risks of the vaccine mix are not yet fully understood. “We do not yet know all the reactions to the vaccine mixes in relation to the period between two different vaccines. Lying about such data is an offence punishable by law,” he said.
He took the opportunity to tackle certain press outlets that are allegedly carrying inaccurate information about unauthorised PCR tests. “Today, 2661 tests have been done. We have not stopped PCR tests but optimised them. They are reserved mainly for those who really have the symptoms and have been approved by a doctor,” he says. Regarding the Delta variant, its propagation and the fears, Dr Joomye evaded the issue by saying “out of the 6000 cases that have arrived since July 1st, we have recorded 14 cases of variants that are contained, thanks to the Resort Bubble” before moving on talking about the precautions to be taken to avoid local transmission.
