Clency Romeo has been appointed as General Manager of La Pirogue with effect from 1st July 2021. Clency has more than 30 years of experience within Sun Limited. He started his career with us in April 1989 as Chief Steward at La Pirogue. Passionate about the Food and Beverage world, he subsequently evolved to the position of Assistant Restaurant Manager. In 2005, he was nominated as F&B Manager of One & Only Le Touessrok before returning to La Pirogue in 2011 as Resident Manager. In 2013, he rose to the position of General Manager, before being appointed General Manager of Ambre in 2015. While working with Sun Limited, Clency obtained a diploma in Food & Beverage Management from Cornell University in New York and a diploma in Hotel Management from Shatec Institute in Singapore.
Departing GM Andrew Slome handed over the keys to Clency and added: “Sun has always believed in talent and in particular that of its own home-grown resources. Clency Romeo is a fine example of this. With his own self-motivation and drive, Clency has achieved remarkable success in the luxury hospitality sector. It is an honour for me to see him return to La Pirogue where I am sure his experience will take the resort to another level of excellence.”
Clency comes back to us after having managed Kanuhura Maldives for 4 years with great achievements both in terms of human relations and customer experience. Kanuhura Maldives has won several prestigious awards under his leadership.
