Charred Body Found In Pamplemousses

A case of foul play is suspected after a completely charred body was found on the morning of Friday, December 9, on what was a wasteland at Power Mill Road, Pamplemousses. Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the forensic department of the police was dispatched to the scene of the crime to conduct a preliminary examination of the body. As of Friday afternoon, this body has still not been identified.

In the late afternoon of Thursday, December 8, a call was received to the police regarding the discovery of a body on a field not far from Party Field, a place of celebration. Searches by elements of the regular force and the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) until very late in the evening yielded no results. At dawn on Friday, December 9, the search began. The body of a man was found completely charred on what was an uncultivated piece of land.

This area was secured before forensic technicians came to the scene to collect clues that could help advance this investigation. Dr. Gungadin was called to the scene to make an initial examination of the body before it was transported to the morgue of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis for an autopsy. This is scheduled for Saturday morning, December 10.

The investigation in this case is being conducted by the men of the CID of Pamplemousses, led by the sub-inspector, Seeparsand.
