The men of the Special Striking Team (SST) of the police headquarters at rue Philippe Rousseau in Camp Chapelon, Pailles in the afternoon of Thursday, December 8, arrested an artist for drug trafficking. Louis Antonio Kursley Caliste, 51 years old and living in Cité Roche-Bois was found in possession of 1080 grams of heroin. The market value of this drug is Rs 16 200 000.
It is based on certain information concerning a sale of drugs that these police officers of the SST, led by the assistant superintendent of police, Ashik Jagai mounted an operation at Philippe Rousseau Street, Camp-Chapelon. When the police arrived at around 4:30 pm on Thursday, December 8, Kursley Caliste tried to flee. He was quickly chased, subdued, and arrested. A clear plastic bag containing 1080 grams of heroin was found in his possession.
The suspect was taken to Central Barracks for questioning. He was subsequently taken into custody on the orders of the Superintendent of Police, Dunraz Gangadin. Kursley Caliste was brought before the Port-Louis court this Friday morning, December 9. He is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking. An investigation has been initiated to determine the source of the drugs.
