Veeshnarain Vikash Dookhit, 38 years old who has been working in the judicial field as a bailiff for years, found himself in the dock this Tuesday morning of March 2. He was arrested in Rose-Belle in the late afternoon of Monday, February 28 on a charge of indecent assault. He committed this crime on a 21 year old secretary on a bus.
Veeshnarain Vikash Dookhit was apprehended by police officers at the Rose-Belle police station late Monday afternoon, February 28, as he tried to flee near the TFP store, after getting off a bus heading to Plaine-Magnien. This after a resident of this southern village called for help on this bus after this resident of Montagne-Blanche caressed her right leg.
In her complaint, the young secretary explained that she had taken this bus from Port-Louis to go to Plaine-Magnien. At a certain point, she said she changed seats to a second row seat that was empty. A few minutes later a stranger came and sat down right next to her.
As the bus pulled into the Highland area, she noticed that half of the bag the man was holding was resting on her right leg and felt movement there. However, she said she did not pay too much attention because she felt sleepy. As this vehicle arrived at Union-Park, she woke up and still felt something on her leg. She then had to notice that the man’s right hand was in her pants.
She screamed for help and the man quickly got up and got off the bus near the TFP store in Rose-Belle. The suspect was arrested by Rose-Belle police officers. At the police station, the young woman identified the suspect. The suspect was brought before the Bail and Remand Court in Port-Louis on Tuesday, March 1st on a provisional charge of indecent assault. This Wednesday, March 2, he was again brought before the court of Mahébourg on the same charge.
