Ford, represented by Axess, will organize the second phase of its solidarity campaign through a road trip that will be held on Saturday, October 29, starting at 2 pm. The road trip will start at The Pod, Vivea Business Park and will follow a route passing by Mare-Longue to finish at SPARC Flic en Flac. To ensure the smooth running of the road trip and the safety of all, the route will be escorted by police motorcyclists. The objective is to gather 70 vehicles of the American brand in order to collect funds for the School Accompaniment Program based in Pailles Ouest, implemented by the ENL Foundation, and to continue the development work to welcome the children there.
Following the first Drive 4 UR Community event, held on August 6, ENL Foundation & Ford Mauritius were able to raise the sum of Rs 44,000 through the participation of 11 pick-ups. Thanks to this, the renovation and exterior works could be carried out. This second phase of the community program will focus on interior work such as painting and electricity. This second event being a road trip, it will be open to FORD pick-up owners and will allow participants to discover the hidden treasures and cultural heritage of our country. Each participation behind the wheel of a Ford is equivalent to donating Rs2,000 to the School Accompaniment Program which aims to provide additional educational support through better after-school care.
The Accompagnement Scolaire, also known as remedial classes, is a class where primary and pre-vocational school students go after school hours to catch up on their studies. The beneficiaries face learning difficulties and need more time and attention to understand the different subjects taught in school. The courses are oriented towards new learning techniques rather than the traditional curriculum. ENL Foundation, with the help of its fieldworker on Pailles/GRNW, has established the Projet d’Accompagnement Scolaire and since 2010, the project is implemented in the 5 regions where ENL intervenes.
