Arvin Boolell Suspended For The Next 8 Sittings

The first member of Constituency no 18 was expelled and named by the Speaker. At the resumption, the Prime Minister moved a motion that he be suspended for the next 8 sittings. The motion was passed.

It will be recalled that Paul Berenger, Arvin Boolell and Rajesh Bhagwan were recently suspended for the entire parliamentary session. It took a motion from the Prime Minister to allow them to return to their seats on budget day.

During Private Notice Question this morning, Arvin Boolell intervened in an exchange between the Speaker and the Leader of the Opposition. As a result, he was warned by the Speaker and then ejected. At one point, the term “batchiara” was used by the Labour MP.

But it appeared that there was an incident in the corridors between Arvin Boolell and Sooroojdev Phokeer. The police had to intervene.
