50-Year-Old Man Dies Of Overdose In Guest House

Must Read

Police officers from the Trou aux Biches police station were called to a guest house in Pointe aux Biches where a 59-year-old man was unresponsive in one of the rooms on Tuesday afternoon, December 13. The personnel of an ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) were called to the scene. The doctor on board could only observe the death of this man. The autopsy performed attributed his death to acute pulmonary edema, probably caused by an overdose.

This man, living on route Militaire, Plaine-Verte, had gone to this place to spend the day with a 59 year old woman, living on rue Magon, Port-Louis. This one had to notice at the end of the afternoon that the fifty-year-old was not well. She then called the police. The fifty-year-old, who was naked, was lying on the ground and covered with a towel.

The doctor of the SAMU, who examined him, had to note that he was already dead. His body was then transported to the morgue of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis for an autopsy. The autopsy, performed by Dr. Sheila Jankee-Parsad, Principal Police Medical Officer, attributed his death to acute pulmonary edema probably caused by an overdose. Samples were taken and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Reduit for examination.

In the victim’s pocket, police found a plastic bag containing cannabis and a white sheet of paper. These were seized as exhibits for analysis at the FSL.
