50-Year-Old Bay Du Cap Woman Arrested For Drug Trafficking

Police from the Central Division’s Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) raided the home of 55-year-old Marie Suzy Laval in Baie du Cap on the afternoon of Tuesday September 19. A large plastic bag containing a large quantity of cannabis twigs and a plastic container containing a quantity of cannabis were discovered. The cannabis twigs weighed 220 grams and the cannabis leaves weighed 2.6 kilos. The value of the drugs is estimated at over Rs 3,120,00. The woman in her fifties incriminated a person who had entrusted her with the drugs.

It was on the basis of certain information that these Adsu police officers, led by sergeant Vedpathak, arrived at Suzy Laval’s home after hours of surveillance. The woman had been denounced for drug trafficking. Indeed, drugs were discovered in her home at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, when these Adsu officers searched her house.

After seizing the drugs, the suspect was confronted with the exhibits. She stated that the parcels had been entrusted to her by a local resident. After questioning, Suzy Laval was placed in a cell at the Vacoas detention center on the orders of Assistant Superintendent of Police Mithilhessingh Bissessur.

This Wednesday morning, September 20, she was brought before the Bail and Remand Court (BRC) in Port-Louis. He is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking. This Thursday morning, September 21, he will appear again before the Souillac court.
