A young man, whose identity is not yet known, died following an overdose at the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis this Wednesday morning, February 16. He had been taken to this hospital in a semi-conscious state in the afternoon of Thursday, February 10, after being found lying on the sidewalk of Balisage Road, Roche-Bois near the Emmanuel Anquetil Government School.
It was police officers from the Roche-Bois police station who took him to the hospital around 3:15 pm on Thursday, February 10. As he was in a state of drowsiness, he could not give any statements. It was around 9:45 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, February 16, that he passed away. An autopsy performed in the late afternoon of Wednesday, February 16 by Dr. Prem Chamane, Principal Police Medical Officer, attributed his death to acute cerebral and pulmonary edema, probably caused by an overdose. Samples were taken for toxicological analysis at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Reduit.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, has brown hair. He is 5’10” tall. He has a tattoo of a rose on the left side of his neck, a tattoo with the inscriptions Frankie and XIII.XII.00 on the left side of his chest, a tattoo in the shape of a ship’s anchor on his right wrist, a tattoo in the shape of two triangles on his left wrist and a tattoo in the shape of a chain on the bottom of his left foot, among others.
On the day he was found by the police, this person was wearing a pair of jeans, a black t-shirt and a pair of white shoes of the brand Nike.
