Theft Of The Ti Canon Boat: A Sixth Suspect Arrested By The CID Of Grand-Baie

The list of suspects taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Grand Bay has grown this Thursday, February 24. Inspector Thakoor’s men put a sixth suspect behind bars. He is Sharvan Kumar Geerish, a 38-year-old driver living in the village of Dagotière. He confessed to investigators that he drove the suspects involved in the theft of the speed boat Ti Canon in a rented car. This suspect was brought before the court of Pamplemousses this Friday, February 25, before being returned to his cell.

The arrest of this suspect follows the arrest of another resident of Dagotière on Thursday, February 24. The 36-year-old explained to the CID that during the theft of this boat, he had rented a car from Sharvan Kumar Geerish. He said he did not know what the latter had done with the car. After a long interrogation, the man was released without conditions.

On Monday, February 21, Louis Franky Tom, a 29-year-old mason and resident of Dagotiere, was arrested and was incriminated by the suspects as the alleged mastermind of the importation of a shipment of cannabis from Reunion Island aboard Ti Canon. The shipment, worth 7.5 million, was stolen from its home port at Sunset Boulevard in Grand Bay on the night of Sunday 23 to Monday 24 January.

This investigation under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Mussafeer and Assistant Superintendent of Police Jumun of the CID is continuing to track down those who made the trip to Reunion Island to retrieve this shipment of drugs. The police are also trying to find the stolen boat.
