Shakeel Mohamed Calls For Comparison Of Drugs Seized At Laurette’s Home And Pointe-Aux-Canonniers

On Monday, Bruneau and Ryan Laurette appeared in court in Moka. They are facing three provisional charges: possession of drugs, possession of weapons and money laundering. This follows the seizure of Rs 231 million of hashish at Bruneau Laurette’s home on Friday.

The police objected to Ryan Laurette’s bail application. Bruneau Laurette’s lawyers chose not to file a motion for release.

Bruneau and Ryan Laurette remained in police custody. They will appear in court again on November 14. On that day, Ryan Laurette’s request for release will be debated.

But in court this morning, following questions from Me Shakeel Mohamed, a police officer enquiring officer said that the search of Bruneau Laurette’s home was recorded. He added that he will bring the recording to court as soon as possible.

Shakeel Mohamed also reported “strange similarities” between the drugs seized at Bruneau Laurette’s home and those seized at Pointe aux Canonniers in May 2021.

Shakeel Mohamed also stated that a police officer took DNA samples from Bruneau Laurette as well as from the drug packets. However, the lawyer said that the police officer in question was not working on Friday. He was asked to come to the office only for this task.
