Ravann Kozé: New Ambassador Of Typical Sega

Must Read

Their cover of the song Le Morne with Justice Lecoq left no one indifferent. But the group Ravann Koze does not intend to stop there. Two singles were soon released under the leadership of Jason Heerah.

It’s hard to resist the call of the ravann when the sound hits the eardrums and beats with every heartbeat. No. The ravanne sega is not dead. It is alive. It is now known as Ravann Kozé, a musical group created by Hugo Joly.

Son of Roche-Bois but living today in Flacq, Hugo – the leader, learned everything from his late father: “It is my father who initiated me to the ravanne. He was also a manufacturer and played in hotels to earn his living. I accompanied him until the day he asked me to found my group, which I named 5214.

With the departure of some members, the group changed its name to Ravann Kozé. The new group will accompany thereafter the great ones of the sega as: Désiré François, Clarel Armel, Nancy Dérougère, Linzy Bacbotte among others.

Then, a month ago, Jason Heerah made them a proposal for the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition celebrated on August 23: “Jason had asked Justice Lecoq to cover Le Morne of the group Cassiya. As we were already working in his studio, he asked us to accompany Justice. And that resulted in the track being available on YouTube.”

The group intends to release an album soon: “We have already recorded two singles in Jason Heerah’s studio. The videos will follow, and then the typical sega album will come full circle,” explains Hugo.
