This was stated by Patrick Assirvaden, the president of the Labour Party, this Tuesday. He said he met Dr Navin Ramgoolam at Wellkin Hospital. The leader of the Labour Party is “relatively healthy”, said Patrick Assirvaden.
He added that due to a technical problem, the medical evacuation of Dr Ramgoolam to India has to be postponed. It will not take place this Tuesday.
Patrick Assirvaden explained that the Mauritian government made the payment to the private company to which the medical plane belongs. He insisted that the Labour Party will pay back the money to the government. However, the company is insisting to see the money in its bank account before allowing the plane to take off.
Moreover, the medical plane will cross the airspace of Maldives. Hence, the authorization of this country is needed. Steps are been taken to obtain it, said Patrick Assirvaden.
According to the president of the Labour Party, Dr Ramgoolam will not be able to leave the country this evening. “We have set a new target for tomorrow morning. We hope that it will be successful,” said Patrick Assirvaden.
